Chichicastenago : First Exhibition of Women Producers held

Quiche 21 May ( Cerigua ) .- Organizations Chichicastenango women participated in the First Fair Municipal Women Producers, an activity promoted by the municipal council of women, with the support of family commitments, women and children and youth, the Municipal Development Council ( COMUDE ).

Panjoj Maria Cristina Sen, coordinator of the office, reported that the activity was counted with the participation of at least fifteen women's organizations in rural and urban areas of the municipality, who presented products, including textiles, embroidery, herbal medicine, traditional dishes and processed foods like jams and dried fruits.

The interviewee commented that the purpose of this activity was to recognize, appreciate and strengthen the work women do in this town as a way of promoting the search for new markets, so that the skills and abilities in this sector are valued.

Sen to say, many women in their communities seek to support the family economy and improving the quality of life of their loved ones, thus it was considered important to provide the necessary support to their efforts to obtain better results.

Among the organizations that support artisans are Coordinator Chichicastenango Integral Development Association ( CASODI ) Reunion Association Aq'abal Maya, the Life and Hope Association, Association of Community Development, the Attorney of Human Rights, Youth Ministry and Association of Women in the colony on July 10.
